William D. “Chip” Carter, Jr. was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2000, and joined Mason Bahr LLP in 2004. Prior to that, Mr. Carter was associated with two Gwinnett County law firms, where he practiced primarily in the areas of probate and fiduciary litigation and estate planning.

Mr. Carter practices primarily in the areas of estate and wealth planning, fiduciary litigation, probate law, corporate law, real estate law and civil litigation. Mr. Carter also assists clients with respect to charitable planning and giving techniques. Utilizing his musical background, Mr. Carter is called upon to advise members of the Atlanta arts community on issues such as contract formation, intellectual property rights and employment matters.

Mr. Carter is a frequent speaker for civic and charitable organizations regarding wealth and estate planning matters. He has been a presenter at continuing legal education seminars as a panelist in the areas of estates and guardianships and education law issues. He also is a member of the Probate and Estate Litigation Committee of the Real Property and Probate Section of the American Bar Association, as well as the Fiduciary Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia.

Mr. Carter graduated with departmental honors from Shorter College in 1991 with a Bachelor of Church Music Degree in organ performance. Additionally, Mr. Carter pursued masters and doctoral level studies in opera conducting and opera coaching from The Florida State University. He received his law degree from Georgia State University College of Law in 2000, where he was a graduate research assistant and an academic award recipient in Education Law.
